Indoor Portrait Lighting Techniques @ TEXCAM of Houston

James Schmelzer is an award winning photographer, lecturer, and has been the technical representative for F.J. Westcott Company for over 30 years.  James has been actively involved in designing new light modifier products as well as creating instructional videos demonstrating control of light.  He conducts workshops, speaks at seminars, and demonstrates lighting at trade shows.
James has been a member of the Professional Photographers of America, where he holds the Master Craftsman Photographer Degree. He also holds a Master’s Degree with the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International. James is owner of Elite Photographic Studio in Shelby Township, Michigan where he specializes in High School Senior portraits and Weddings.
James will take you step by step through the theory and techniques behind great studio lighting.
Watch as James explains in a live demonstration the build up from one light and reflector to a multiple light set up explaining the 7 different lighting patterns and what type of face there best used for. This class will start as basic lighting and move on to advanced lighting techniques using the latest in LED technology.

With considered conceptual planning, this segment begins with a brief demonstration on light placement and metering. Each lighting pattern will be developed to aid Randy’s artistic intention of matching the shadow with the mood of Alva’s diverse ability to convey emotion.
