Big Bend Spring 2019
Mar 25 @ 8:00 am – Mar 30 @ 5:00 pm

The Impassioned Photographer’s Workshops invites you to our
Spring 2019 Big Bend National Park workshop
March 25-30

Join instructors Alan Montgomery and Nick Quinn , two instructors with combined professional photography careers spanning over 86 years. This will be their 12th year leading workshops to Big Bend National Park. This year their primary goal is the wildflowers west Texas should be having. For Big Bend to have fields of wildflowers it takes a substantial amount of winter rains and Big Bend rarely receives winter rain. This year there has been quite a bit of winter rain so the wildflowers should be in abundance! There will also be many other wonderful subjects to photograph as well.

Learn elements of digital photography you may be struggling with, how to nail your exposure using the camera histogram, better composition, finding or creating great light, dynamic post-processing of your images and much more.
They provide one-on-one help in both photography and Photoshop/Lightroom processing and also group instruction in Photoshop/Lightroom techniques.
Field photo sessions will be early morning, late afternoon and also night photography if there are enough students interested. Mid-day is spent working on your images and learning Photoshop and Lightroom, or resting as you see fit. There will be critiques every other evening to give you feedback on your progress.

Wildlife Photography – From old to Z!

Exploring our wild heritage with a camera is one of the greatest pursuits! It can also be one of the greatest challenges because of so many factors, the biggest one is our subject does whatever they want to! Then there are those little things like exposure, lenses, bodies and flash we need to point at that subject. There are many great “old” techniques that when incorporated with today’s new tools can solve most of your challenges making your photography successful. Come join me as I cover the biology, old and new techniques and gear and help you take your visual storytelling to a new level.

About Moose Peterson

Moose’s lifelong passion is photographing the life history of our endangered wildlife and wild places. Since 1981 he and his wife Sharon have dedicated their lives to this pursuit. Educating the public about our wild heritage is their hallmark. Moose added to this in 2008 aviation photography with the same goal of preserving our aviation heritage and the freedoms they protect, pictorial and oral for future generations. Along the way Moose has been honored for his photographic passion: a Nikon Ambassador USA, recipient of the John Muir Conservation Award, Research Associate with the Endangered Species Recovery Program, just to name a few. He was part of Epson’s Finish Strong ad campaign. Moose was the creative producer/photographer of his acclaimed film: Warbirds and The Men Who Flew Them. He shares his knowledge through his writing, being published in over 143 magazines worldwide, author of 29 books including his latest, Takeoff and best seller Captured. He lectures across the country to thousands upon thousands of photographers every year. One of the original Nikon shooters to receive the D1 in 1999, Moose embraced this new technology, becoming the only wildlife photographer in the world to shoot strictly digital in the early years. While a beta site for all the major hardware and software manufacturers, Moose continues being a creative innovator of new techniques both behind the camera and the computer, which is the driving force behind his photography and goals.
